Weekend Street Closures

There are a few weekend street closures to watch out for this Saturday and Sunday. Plan your route so you won’t run into extra traffic when visiting this weekend. As usual there are a lot of great things to see and do in the Strip. Come on down and enjoy Pittsburgh’s favorite neighborhood.

Saturday Street Closure

Street Closure Detour - Tanks for the MemoriesFrom Noon until 3:00pm Smallman Street between 12th and 13th streets will close for Tanks for the Memories at the Heinz History Center. Traffic will be detoured around the closure via Waterfront Place and 13th Street. If you’re coming into the Strip via the 10th Street Bypass under the Convention Center you should use the following detour as there is no direct turn onto Waterfront Place from that side of 11th Street.

Detour: Turn right under the Convention Center on 10th Street. Proceed to Liberty Ave. Turn left onto Liberty and then left onto 11th Street. Follow 11th back towards the Convention Center and make a right onto Waterfront Place and follow the detour back to Smallman via. 13th Street. Click on the image above to see the detour.

Sunday Street Closure

2015 EQT Course Street ClosureSunday from 7:00 am until around 11:00 am there will be several street closures in the Strip for the EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler. The route will come across the 16th Street Bridge and proceed up Penn Ave to 29th Street where it will cross onto Smallman. They’ll only be on Smallman until just before the 31st Street Bridge where they’ll move back to Penn Ave and then onto Liberty Ave. at 29th Street. They’ll then follow Liberty Ave. into downtown.

They will reopen the street as the runners pass through the area. All runners are expected to finish by 11:00 am. Visitors can access the Strip from the downtown area via Smallman Street. The 10th Street Bypass will be open and visitors may take the Parkway to the Bypass and come into the Strip via Smallman Street. Those coming from the east who would travel down Penn or Liberty avenues can also take the Bypass via crossing the 40th or 31st Street Bridges and taking Route 28 to the Fort Duquesne Bridge and exiting towards the Strip onto the Bypass.
